Dive #59: The Gap, Sydney

Place:The Gap Buddy:Eithne
Weather:Fine Type:Boat (Sea Life V)
Max. depth (m):11.9 Visibility (m):15
Time down:11:05 Dive time (mins):53
Average depth (m):8.2 Water temp. (C):18.0

Equipment: As #58.

Notes: After a pathetic few dessicated tiny sausage rolls, we bumped down to Bondi and had a frowning look at the current and then back up to the Gap. No current there, and no Grey Nurse sharks either- a point to note since Magic Point was on the schedule. One becomes curious as to whether it is a general dive shop strategy to talk of sharks and whales and all manner of exotic marine fauna before grimly announcing that there’s been a weather warning and a few mangy wrasse will have to do.

Anyway, in at the Gap and on our own this time by design and it was lovely not to see any other divers for 53 minutes. Plenty of ray action, and a nice picture of a Red Rock Cod (Scorpaena cardinalis) to boot.

Accumulated time underwater: 1 day, 12 hours and 32 minutes
